The industrial style was created in New York in the 90s of the last century. It arose in the former warehouse, industrial areas, and factory locations. That’s how it relates to the Loft style.
At that time, many buildings changed their purpose, and functioning places turned into abandoned ones. Naturally, some adventurous people wanted to bring them into the proper form.
Initially, these were public or industrial premises; their areas were huge. Therefore, these buildings acquired general purpose in a new status – hotels, motels, bars, restaurants, art galleries, and shops. The industrial style reached the living quarters later, often used in loft-styled spaces. When individuals consider industrial design style, they often associate it with building lofts bragging large metal, black windows and doors, natural unfinished wood elements, and exposed concrete blocks and bricks.
